Our Story
My name is Enas Alsharea, and I am the founder and owner of Innana Creations Rug Gallery.
Long before I ever knew the name Hollywood, I grew up in the heart of Baghdad, Iraq where folklore stories lived in the air like perfume. At night, me and my cousins would gather around my grandmother as she told us tales of Sindbad and his magic carpet, a carpet that could carry you to faraway lands. In those moments, I learned that woven threads could hold wonder, adventure, and destiny.
Since 2014, I have called Colorado/ United States home, yet nostalgia often carries me back across oceans. I have a deep yearning for the lively cities of the Middle East, for the scent of spices drifting through crowded bazaars, for the colors of hanging garments dancing in warm air, for textures that tell stories without speaking and especially for the hard to forget taste of food.
Innana - woven
Innana is the first documented goddess in human history. She is the Mesopotamian goddess of love, war, and fertility. She is a symbol of power, transformation, descent, and rebirth. In ancient mythology, Innana bridged realms, heaven and earth, love and war.
My gallery draws from these same metaphors of transformation.
Each rug is more than wool and dye. It is the crossing of threads, much like the crossing of cultures. It is the echo of seagull songs on the banks of dijlah Tigris in Baghdad, the hum of ancient souqs marketplaces, the quiet resilience of tradition carried forward. Through weaving, I hope to create a bridge between East and West, between memory and modernity, between the place I come from and the place I now call home.
Interestingly, my profession as a dentist complements my passion for weaving. Both require patience, precision, steady hands, and deep attention to detail and both, when done with intention, create something impactful.
What hangs on the walls of my gallery has travelled more than any map can trace, across deserts, generations and the invisible space between longing and belonging. This gallery is where my nostalgia found texture.
I invite you to visit us, to immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of the Middle East, and perhaps like Sindbad allow yourself to be carried somewhere unexpected!!
